Fear of Fast Food! Day 7 With Margie Schnibbe

Born  in Yonkers, NY, Margie Schnibbe the artist and filmmaker is now living a color-swirled exciting life in Los Angeles, California. Margie likes to mix it up with drawings, paintings and art installations, as well as films and performances. She’s a creative pop tart, a pink-haired (sometimes purple-haired or otherwise) secret agent moving through the city, noticing and beginning the questions you didn’t know you had.

Today’s piece shall remind you that your friend is not your dinner, and if you have more questions, visit Margie’s Sites!

Romantic Monster Encounters (DAY 6)

Monsters are rumored to be inherently impractical with their uncontrollable urges, hideousness and general tendency to either mess up your life or mess up your stuff. Face it: you see a monster coming, and you cross the street or try to act natural so it doesn’t notice you and do something horrible like suck all the blood out of your body or spit acidic bile all over your car.
But monsters are not, as you may think, freaks of nature.
Monsters are as natural as anyone else, capable of great and terrible things, like you or me.
From the sketchbooks of Nyssa Oru, Northern California illustrator extraordinaire, are six rare portraits of LGBT supernatural beings enjoying each other as loving, caring creatures.
This is Nyssa’s third Gothtober, she’s been drawing monsters awhile, plus a few other things besides, and if you wish to wander off task in a productive way, visit here to see more of Nyssa’s work.

Day 5 at Headstone’s!

Headstone’s Restaurant was spawned from the idea that citizens everywhere deserve better tasting eats – sustenance that is made-to-order and priced at a value that’s hard to beat! Founded by experienced experts with an open-minded spirit, Headstone’s over-the-top variety of new flavors became an instant hit! With a variety of traditional and gluten-free treats served hot, fresh and served with a smile, the people were hooked, and the world of cookie cutter corporate fast food establishments changed forever.

We called the President and CEO of Headstone’s, Cosmo Segurson, to ask him what brought him the groundbreaking vision for the country’s best new franchise idea and he said “Hey, I’m just a regular guy, it’s a simple idea: ya gotta stay healthy, you are what you eat, you know?”

What’s the secret to Headstone’s unparalleled excellence of big hold flavor? We may never know, but come on down and try it for yourself, we here at Gothtober can’t get enough of it!

Do You Believe in Ghosts? Watch Day 4

Rincy Samucake and Julianna(JP)Parr went out into the Los Angeles landscape and made a weirdo movie about restless spirits.

Rincy’s space metal band made the music, JP filmed the spirits in their restlessness.

Is it more comfortable to be restless rather than restful? Is one’s temptation from abiding with the moment a type of apparitional diversion?

When you’ve lost someone, how much of  yourself do you also lose, and do you ever get any of it back and do ghosts care about any of this? Is it all in your mind? Is it the fantods, or you, or is it both?

Do ghosts get mad if you forget them, and do they live in sewers and abandoned lots where people eat sandwiches in their cars all by themselves?

Fall Fairy Wings with Citruquinz Inc. for Day 3

Time to start off Gothtober 3rd with a wonderful craft project from Citruquinz Inc. it’s a pair of fetching fairy wings, you can make these and fly anywhere you want!

I know what you’re asking.

What’s the heck’s a Cintruquinz?!?

Funny you should ask, it just so happens that it’s a word made up by New Jersey native, Brittany Mackason. It’s a combination of the words “citrus” and “sequins” It’s also part of the sparkly manifesto that defines Brittany’s quest to share her artwork with the world.

If you want more details, it is highly advised that you visit Citruquinz and check out Brittany’s flourishing porfolio of dynamic and colorful works. You’ll also find her store, her blog, the latest projects Brittany is working on and more!

Check out these creepy sharp-nailed hands around this green glowing crystal ball, this is only a smidgen of what you’ll find over at the Citruquinz website. Enjoy!

IT IS TIME!

In the words of Madame Leota, my favorite dismembered head inside of a crystal ball…

“Goblins and ghoulies from last Halloween. Awaken the spirits with your tambourine!

Creepies and crawlies, toads in a pond; let there be music, from regions beyond!

Wizards and witches, wherever you dwell, give us a hint, by ringing a bell!”

The sluice gates are officially open, it’s the 10th anniversary of the Gothtober Countdown Calendar, and we are accepting applications for the creepiest, spookiest, weirdest, wackiest, craziest and disturbing works for 2011! Get your applications in by August 21st, and we’ll let you know if you made it in by August 29th!

APPLY TODAY! Gothtober wants YOU!

It’s NOT too Early, Oh no, IT’S NOT.

This will be the 10th anniversary of Gothtober, mark my words. This year’s Gothtober theme is “Chain Restaurant.” It doesn’t matter if it’s sit-down or drive-thru, the more Cheesecake Factory-Olive Garden-T.G.I. IHOP-IN-N-OUT-Pizza Hut-Taco Bell-Red Robin ridiculousness you can channel, the better.

The Gothtober Franchise is being built and packed with combo orders with supersize horrors for 31 days of unpalatable thrills.

More info as the year unfolds, but I couldn’t keep it to myself any longer, I wanted to get your wheels turnin.

DAY 31: More Cowbell!!!

It’s the perfect ending to another fantastic Gothtober. Team Little Green Dog has given us that friendly, warm graveyard feeling with some good ol’ fashioned fall fun. There’s no need to fear the Pooper (or the reaper) as you hang out with kitty Brudders, Sgt. Marshmallow and Toullie, and their human sister, jamming with the band in the late night hours.

As they rock out to a familiar tune, make sure you listen to the lyrics, which aren’t that familiar! Nothing brings that fall feeling like stringed instruments. This song’s got it all: ukelele, guitar, harmonica and COWBELL.

All you have to do is visit the dial that says “31” on Gothtober’s Boom Box.

And if you want to know more about Little Green Dog, why not visit Little Green Blog?
